A man suffered only minor injuries in the crash reported at 7:20 a.m. in the 15600 block of Lemon Dr just west of Mayes Dr
The force from the impact caused the pole to shift and will need to be reset into a safe and stable position.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident that occurred in the westbound direction of travel at the bottom of a hill that has seen at least five accidents in just over a year in a one-block section from Mayes Dr to Hartdale Ave.
Note to readers: The remainder of this post is shamelessly opinionated.
Three of those accidents involved vehicles that were parked and the driver fled and the fourth involved an intoxicated driver and a motorist allegedly driving at a high rate of speed in May sending one person to the hospital with minor injuries. One of those hit-and-run drivers was arrested after fleeing to his home nearby on Scott Ave.
A traffic safety study conducted for the City of La Mirada denied a request for yellow lane striping to calm speeding down the hill. The study conducted for the La Mirada Public Safety Commission stated safety issue did not exist on the street. The commission denied the request based on the study.
