Car prowler seen disabling security system in Creek Park area crime

La Mirada- The images of a pair of thieves were captured on home security video as they entered cars at a handful of homes near La Mirada Creek Park overnight early Tuesday.

Around 3:30 a.m. a security camera on Penford Dr began
recording two individuals that were on both sides of the street checking cars on both sides of the street including those parked on driveways. Both suspects were reportedly wearing white hoodies.

A man who appears to have a device that sends a signal to the key fob controlling the locks and alarm system is seen opening the door of a car a fraction of a second after both the front and rear lights on the vehicle turning on. The man then begins to search through the contents of the car then walk over towards a residence on Hartdale Ave.

About 15 minutes after the video was taken a nearby resident reported seeing two persons on bikes one with a white shopping bag ride northbound towards Lemon Dr and out of sight.

The resident that posted the video spoke to the neighbor about the incident this morning and was told nothing had been taken and the car had been locked because it is equipped with a self-locking and self-arming security system.

The incident was reported to deputies stating the area would receive more overnight patrols. Further details were unavailable about other incidents that may have been reported in the area.
